I have hopeful news for owners of holiday homes in Torremolinos who were shocked to discover that their local tax (valor catastral) has been almost doubled by the Town Hall.
The British MEP, Dr. Charles Tannock, has condemned this increase as discriminatory - it is not being exacted from full-time residents and is being imposed on the people who have no vote and least use local services.
Dr. Tannock has lodged a question in the European Parliament asking the EU lawyers if EU law is being breached or any other international obligation to which Spain is a signatory.
I would urge all second-home owners in Torremolinos to enlist the support of their own MEPs.
