Changes to European Parliament's Ukraine committee
Interfax News Agency - 10 September 2004
Marek Siwiec, former state secretary of Poland's national security bureau, will become head of the European Parliament committee for ties with Ukraine, the Ukrainian service of Radio Deutsche Welle reported, citing informed sources.
Siwiec's appointment must be endorsed by the European Parliament, whose session begins next week. Polish socialist Siwiec will replace Jan Wiersma of the Netherlands as chairman of the Ukraine committee. British Conservative MEP Charles Tannock will be Siwiec's first deputy. He may also become a rapporteur of the European Parliament on European Union-Ukraine relations.
