A Resounding "No" to Shared Sovereignty Press Release - November 7th 2002 In anticipation of today's comprehensive rejection of the Government's plans for joint sovereignty in Gibraltar, Dr Charles Tannock MEP, Conservative Foreign Affairs Spokesman in Europe, said: "The results of the referendum overwhelmingly support the position of Caruana's government and the British Conservatives - that the people of Gibraltar reject any sharing of sovereignty with Spain. These negotiations were flawed from the very beginning. We now call on the British Government to abandon talks with Spain, and hope that the Spanish Government will now respect the fact that Gibraltarians have the same rights as all other EU citizens."
